Jim is the most caring auto mechanic you’ll find!
My 4X4 was making terrible noises and while I could survive without it who would want to. I was referred to him by family because of his fair pricing. (Family member was saved hundreds on his Durango from a quote with a chain retailer) I’m super hesitant on mechanics as I normally do my own work to save me the cost but avoid big jobs.
Jim can be a little gruff but he’s honest with you. He did my rear U-joint and my front differential for right around 800. He even explained to me how much he was charging me in labor. While his oil change is more costly he did a diagnostic on my truck for free with the change. He even was willing to tell me what he felt could wait since it was Christmas time (I seem to always hit large repairs in Dec-3 years in a row now).
If you’re in the area, please use Jim. I’d hate to see a good ol’ honest mechanic disappear there are so few left.
Doing a second review. We’ve used this shop about five times since my last review. Sadly, my car had to go back to the shop yesterday. The battery that they installed was dead. He is replacing that for 30 minutes labor and taking care of the warranty replacement himself which is extremely convenient. My fuel pump also failed about 9 months ago. It failed again just a little while ago. He replaced it and took care of the warranty at no charge under the warranty on his work. VERY pleased.

I should also note that he can usually get your car looked at the next day, which is nice for a small shop.

Jim did a great job. Accommodated a change in my schedule without any complaints. It is a small one man shop but that is part of the draw. It is his business and he treats it with the care you would expect from someone in that position. They were very cheerful and polite and the work was done the same day. Price was fair – not a killer deal, but fair and he kept the replaced part around to show me the work was done without me even asking. I would certainly recommend this shop. A much better alternative to going to a dealership. The place is a little hard to find the first time but its worth it.
So friendly and helpful. I may have finally found a mechanic that doesn’t try to take advantage of me! I would totally recommend as this is my new regular place to take my car.
Solid knowledge, been around forever, just the right amount of grumpy. Nothing fancy, no big web pages or tweets or salesmen or or or. Just a guy that runs a small auto shop damn well, equipped to deal with new and old, treats his customers honestly and right so they stay with him. Like it’s supposed to be.

We have taken our Explorer here for 5 or 6 years for a number of problems and different levels of seriousness. Jim provides very fast service, a clear explanation of what he finds, and we have had a consistent sense of fairness in his pricing. We have done everything from oil changes and brake work, to heating probs, to more involved engine work, radiator crack, and CV boots and stuff. He has also alerted us to potential dangers in doing certain repairs that could sabotage the transmission, that could create further costly repairs. A bit of internet research confirmed that one. Thanks, Jim! Also, the car is almost always ready before we expect it to be and there’s a rental car place (Avis) that is very cheap and good to use within walking distance (about 2 or 3 long blocks away). We have not yet had any problems or had to revisit any of the work. A rock-solid mechanic so far!!!
My Xterra was having a 4WD issue and I wanted to take it somewhere small and local. I’d recommend Jim to anyone! He was honest, straight forward, incredibly timely, and kept me informed throughout the day. He took care of my worries, go to him first! Works like a charm now!

First you should know Jim is a GM trained Certified Master Mechanic. I have used him for many years and would go nowhere else. My Jeep and my wife’s Mustang are 25 years old and he has never balked about working on them. Also, I have referred at least 20 people to him and never a complaint. Fair prices and excellant work.
I have taken my vehicles here for years. They are always professional and courteous. Twice I have had my car looked at by a dealership and they told me there were problems that would cost an outrageous amount of money. When I took it here they found the problem was something totally different and far less cost. They are very honest and do great work. This is the only place I will take my vehicles, and have recommended them to others who agree. If you need a mechanic, this is the place to go.
